All three collaborators meet one week after the NYC sharing in Philadelphia, at KYL/D’s CHI Movement Arts Center, to engage with attendees in the Greater Philadelphia region.
Individually and then together, Kun-Yang, Gus and Pallabi share their phrases for the audience. After the movement presentation, KYL/D Business Director, Katie Moore, distributes the prompt the phrases were generated from— Gus’ list of 17 random actions.
Christine Jowers of Dance Enthusiast facilitates the discussion once more, first reflecting on the unique structure of this project in that often times foundations are interested in funding projects that result in a product, such as a show. Where is my B-O-D-Y; however, focused on process, to invite the community to simply see people at work, with no defined “end” product, as well as be in dialogue with one another— ask questions and share ideas.
Audience Members share the following responses:
"This truly was really special"
"There's nothing limited from what I saw today, the movement choices seemed limitless"
“I’ve only seen the professional ensemble without Kun-Yang. I’ve never witnessed him perform before, and seeing him move now, and hearing him talk about his journey, I feel like I understand so much more about the company”
"Just the theme itself was thought-provoking"
“As someone who is also experiencing limitations, this was wonderful for me, thank you"
"MAGNIFICENT in every way...your talent, maturity & expressiveness as a performer is unparalleled...bless you for sharing your gifts with us."
“I think as we get older, we unveil more of the drama, the emotion, the ambition and we are reduced to just what we are in essence. We are not trying to show, prove, or receive any more accolades, so I felt the whole performance was a wonderful message and teaching in that regard”
